A
Festival to link school, global citizenship and the environment
10 years after the Earth Summit
0RGANISING
PARTNERS OF EVENT
A multi-sponsor event currently organised by London Borough sustainable
development co-ordinators through the London Environmental Co-ordinators
Forum with the support of the Government Office for London and
the Science Museum. Other active or supporting partners such as
Dept. for International Development, London First etc. are being
sought
CHARACTER OF FESTIVAL
The London-wide event will be designed to be more of a festival
than a conference, to promote interest in our common responsibility
for our planet as a stimulating challenge, not a talking shop
spreading gloom and doom or promises with no delivery plan.
Attendance will be around 200 people, including around 20 schools
with about 5 children each, plus teachers, parents, panellists,
and invited guests.
OUTPUTS
¨ A wide range of action-based projects for schools to implement
after the Festival.
¨ A Good Practice Handbook and linked website will be produced,
with advertising opportunities.
¨ A report on the potential for links between the science
curriculum and sustainable development
