The entrance arch to the White City Exhibition in its heyday and how it looks today |
White City Arch
The Arch was one of the entrances to the White City Exhibition built in 1908. The main entrance to the Exhibition was next to the Central Line station in Shepherds Bush. The Arch led to a series of very large elevated exhibition halls which led all the way to Wood Lane. Some of these halls remain today and are used for indoor sports. The entrance survived and is used as offices. The picture shows what is left of the arch today. Sadly, it has lost all of its ornaments. It is not known whether the arch will be kept in the new development.
